The number one reason cited for all ages of players, coaches, managers, and officials leaving a sport is unacceptable behaviour, on and off the field. Hollandia wants to ensure that soccer is enjoyed in a safe, positive environment. The True Sport principles and the following club codes of conduct help keep us focused on this goal.

RESPECT IN SPORT

The provincial government and Sask Sport entered into an agreement regarding Respect in Sport Certification (RiS). All sports in the province are now required to ensure that their Coaches and Team Personnel are certified in RiS. The SSA is committed to creating a sport environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Coaches and Team Personnel have a responsibility to create a sporting environment that is free of harassment, abuse, bullying and neglect.

The RiS course takes 3 hours online and is available, free of charge, to everyone in Saskatchewan through the SSA and Sask Sport. Parents, players, & frequent spectators are also encouraged to complete the course. To complete the RiS training program a computer and Internet connection are required. The RiS program, consisting of six modules, does not have to be completed at one sitting. The program knows where the coach has left off and brings the coach back to that point upon the next sign-in. When the program has been completed a Certificate of Completion can be printed. RiS must be re-certified every 5 years.

CODES OF CONDUCT

As a member of Saskatoon Youth Soccer, and therefore, the Saskatchewan Soccer Association and the Canada Soccer Associations, our Board Members, Coaches, Team Captains, Players, Spectators and Parents/Caregivers are bound to the Codes of Conduct laid out by these organizations. All members of Hollandia are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the conditions in these codes. Any instances where it is felt the codes are not being upheld should be reported to operations@hollandiasoccer.ca. These documents can be found:

In addition to the requirements of the codes outlined above, we also require all individuals involved with Hollandia to sign a Code of Conduct to Protect Children. This form will be collected electronically at the beginning of the season for team personnel, and at the time of registering to volunteer for volunteers.

We firmly believe we can best promote excellence by celebrating the unique attitudes, characteristics and perspectives of our players, coaches, board members, volunteers, families and community. Find the joy of sport and have a good time. Keep a positive attitude and look to make a positive difference, on the field and in your community.

Place physical and mental health above all other considerations and avoid unsafe activities. Respect your body and keep in shape.

INCLUDE EVERYONE

Share sport with others, regardless of creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or ability. Invite everyone into sport to make it more meaningful for the whole community.

GIVE BACK

Always remember the community that supports your sport and helps make it possible. Find ways to show your appreciation and help others get the most out of sport.
